As hard hitting today as ever... The Salem witch trials, the McCarthy hearings, the Senate hearings on the -pro Palestine protests.

One of my favorite plays! It kept me engaged as I read, never knowing what exactly was going to happen next. I didn't know much about the Salem witch trials so it was a very new experience for me.

I was not expecting to be anything less than appalled at any character involved in the Salem witch trails, but this play did a very good job of showing ulterior motives, fears, prejudices, etc., in a way that were not incriminating to the characters but familiar to the readers. I really like it. This should probably go on good-but-not-enjoyable, but I did actually enjoy reading it.

I think I've only read one other play by Arthur Miller, Death of a Salesman, and it was for American History class in high school. I don't really remember what I thought of Death of a Salesman.

I picked up The Crucible because I've been listening to the podcast Girl Historians, and this season has been about the Salem Witch Trials. Also, I've been feeling angsty lately so I wanted to read something a bit darker than the romcoms on my shelf.
