this book builds a story out of the world of fairytales, but tells a completely new tale. basically, the main characters are the daughters of rapunzel and prince charming. the oldest daughter is (sort of) sleeping beauty, the middle daughter... i'm not sure, and the youngest is a precocious baby who gets the unfortunate and accidental name of "anything." they have an adventure that involves (among others) the pied piper, the gingerbread house, the boy from the snow queen and many other tiny tidbits. it's got great drama and some funny moments and... i'd recommend it, but i wouldn't say it was my very favorite book ever.

Storm Eden is like a rambunctious Harry Potter, only feminist. I loved her, and the entire fairy tale premise, although I would have liked a few more storylines tied into the main one. I dare say I was more into it than Atty, but we both greatly enjoyed it.

this book has everything:
- fairytale retellings
- incredible descriptions of sweets that i still remember 14 years, several traumas, multiple terrible haircuts (bangs, really?) and my entire adolescence later
- sisters
- evil witches
- adventure
- nonstop happenings
- jokes on jokes on jokes

it was heaven for 10 year old me and i pray i remember to return to it someday.

part of a series i'm doing in which i review books i read a long time ago

This is a great 8-12 year old girl read. It's the story of three sisters, the daughters of Rapunzel and Reggie, and their adventures after the death of their mother and the disappearance of their father. Several different fairy tales are woven into the story, most notably the Pied Piper, Hansel and Gretel and Sleeping Beauty (one of the sisters is named Aurora). Even though it is over 400 pages, it is not a difficult read at all and moves quite quickly. Illustrations thrown in here and there keep the story entertaining as well.

A touching story about sisters, an intense adventure, a unique twist and blend of fairy tales. Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Pied Piper, Red Riding Hood, Snow Queen, Hansel and Gretel, they all were there. Now I just need to read the next book!
