Really intrigued to read this series and I'm only giving 3 stars to the first book. Being a SW lore-whore, I wanted to like this book more but it felt flat at times. I wanted to be right alongside Bane as he transformed but I couldn't when he was just going places and finding things. External things. His internal transformation wasn't explored enough - or for a Sith, exploited enough.
Pretty good and well thought out, not action packed but entertaining

The Youtini reading order listed this as a Masterpiece of star wars fiction and like... sorry i just dont see the vision. It read very straight through, almost like a textbook. I appreciate the story for it's place in The Lore but like...nah i just did not care about the characters even a little bit (besides Farfalla Valenthyne, i love u gay boy)
If you’re an online Star Wars fan, you know who Darth Bane is. I’ve been meaning to properly read about the man who founded the Rule of Two for a while, so it was fun to get a proper lore dump. The book itself is alright - fairly predictable and not particularly three dimensional but good fun. The most interesting part was definitely the philosophy behind the rule of two, and quite satisfying to read about it with the knowledge of future events.

What an amazing book. From a miner struggling to pay debt to a dark lord of the sith. This story was truly great showing Bane’s very noticeable growing as a character and learning a lot about the dark side and how the rule of two came to mind. Next, Rule of two book which I am eager for.

Path of Destruction, the beginning of the Darth Bane trilogy did not disappoint. In this first volume we witness Dessel, born poor and destined to mine Apatros. Unknowingly Force sensitive, we follow his exploits which lead him to join a great war at the time, between the Republic and Brotherhood of the Sith, ultimately landing him on Korriban, where the seeds his true calling awaited.
It's taken me a while to get to Karpyshyn's work, but it was worth the wait. He is well versed in sci-fi and brings just enough of that skill set to a KOTOR universe without overcompensating by attempting to impress the reader with his Star Wars knowledge base. It makes for both an intriguing AND easy read. I'm eager to jump to The Rule of Two...

I don't usually go in for books on the bad guys but Darth Bane is so pivotal to the Sith mythos that I figured I'd give it a go.
It was solid. Not fantastic but not awful. I did enjoy it. The author did a good job making me feel for Bane. He also made me fear for him, even though I knew he'd survive. It was fun to read that Hoth was not just the name of a planet but also the name of a Jedi general from this time. The last thing I'll say is that the author really played the grey areas well. The light side dabbled in anger and the dark side dabbled in sympathy. It was good to see that not everything is black and white even when it comes to The Force.
