Is it preposterous? Yes. Is it full of gun arcana (not as much as the last book though)? Absolutely. Is it damn good fun? Hell yeah! Stephen Hunter in top form!

I was once in a conversation that went, "If Jack Reacher and John Rain were in a fight, who would you bet on?"

"I'd bet on Bob Lee Swagger to take them both out at a distance," I said.

Bob Lee is the man. That is all. If you haven't read the books, start with Point of Impact and take it from there.

I received an advanced copy of “Sniper’s Honor (Bob Lee Swagger #9)” by Stephen Hunter as a Goodreads First Read giveaway.

The novel follows Swagger and Reilly as they research a mystery surrounding a beautiful female Russian WWII sniper and her target who both disappear from history. The point of view switches between the past and present so we get to see Swagger and company follow the clues, and the details filled in with actual scenes from the past.

A well-researched novel with a compelling story. But that should come as no surprise to Stephen Hunter fans. Bob Swagger is an old man now though, and it shows. Not sure how much he has left in him, but as always I'm hoping for at least one more.
