The Punk Hazard arc is almost finished which means... Doflamingo as the main bad for the next arc. He makes my skin crawl even though he hasn't been in much of the story so far. I'm excited.
Also I love that OP made it onto NPR's critically acclaimed graphic novels list they compiled last year. Their minds.

First and foremost, 5 stars for the doodle of baby Magellan. That alone made my day. Any time Oda includes the kid versions of some of the characters I can't help but love it.
I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I can't say how much I appreciate the who's who at the beginning of each volume.
We all need to take a moment to appreciate how well developed these characters are. Take Smoker and Tashigi as an example. It took no time at all for Oda to clearly show us their personalities, and their ideals. Every time they pop into the story we know exactly what to expect, and there's no disappointment. It just blows my mind that some of these side characters are better than many main characters I've read...lol
And the way he sets up future events is just perfection.
Also...I ship Zoro and Tashigi so much. Is it likely to happen? Probably not, but it still makes me happy to pretend it will.

Volume 69 covers chapters 679-690. This is an extra packed volume that's loaded with chapters. There's action around every corner on Punk Hazard, and the Straw Hats are set to wreck havoc. This story arc isn't as jam packed with spectacular fights as some previous arcs, so don't expect anything too momentous. Zoro vs. Monet was a bit lackluster, and even the Law vs. Vergo fight could have been built up more, though that final panel spread was pretty cool. Overall, things are going to culminate in the next volume.

The action doesn't stop, the crew all seem so much more powerful each time I see them.
It looks like the plan the alliance has cooked up is about to come to light

This volume was just tragic, it was tragic what happend to the children, especially that one child and what happens to the samurai's child too. Yet I found the consequences of eating the candy and yet I found just how shocking the children became and what they all did.
I loved when Monkey D Luffy and the child that turned into a dragon. I also loved how they were able to escape that room. I also found Chopper to be a stand out star and his efforts to keep the children away from the candy shocking and amazing.
Yet when the plan was revealed just shocking too.

For an arc that's been pretty wacky, it was surprisingly sad to see Brownbeard and Mocha recalling their pasts during their realization of being utterly betrayed.
