I had to read this book for a course in leadership and had to fight the entire way through it. There were a few good ideas here and there but it was mostly focused on sports. There were excessive examples provided that felt like "fluff" that really could have been removed which would have improved the overall message. If you are a coach, this book is for you! If you are a general reader or leadership candidate, this book might not be the best for you.

misleading title. 85% of the content is for sports coaches.

Not terrible, the first half was interesting, but the second half wasn't nearly general enough. I think teachers would be better off reading the Teach Like A Champion book so often referred to and every else better off reading a jazzier book like Talent is Overrated.

Essential reading. Great distillation of ideas and concepts from a range of disciplines, not just education. Has certainly made me reflect on various aspects of my role and practice. Reading this will have impact on my future approach.

Honestly, I read the headlines and chapter summaries. There are some great thoughts on the importance of practice - of doing things over and over until you can do them right. But this book has many more words than are necessary to convey the points. An annotated list would suffice. Sorry, Doug. I got some great ideas for my students and myself, but I think it could be shorter.

This follow-up to Teach Like a Champion was written by teachers and many of the applications apply to the classroom. This wasn’t my favorite, but the exceptional chapters on giving and getting feedback are not to be missed. - See more at: http://modernmrsdarcy.com/2013/08/the-liberating-terrifying-realities-of-deliberate-practice-and-the-6-best-deliberate-practice-books/#sthash.keC7gqnx.dpuf

I read this as part of a book study for my Leading from the Classroom professional development. It has some good points that I will try to put into practice in my classroom. Some parts dragged on. One nice point was the synopsis at the end of each of the rules.

A great resource on the use of deliberate practice for improvement, certainly made me consider my own practice design. I didn't expect the book to be so teacher-centric though, but still a very good read that I recommend to everyone looking to further their expertise in any field.
