Definitely not a regular SOA novel, this one will leave you with a lot of feels at the end. Really good story though. I feel bad it took me so long to get into and read to the end. I think, for me, it has a slow start, but picked up after about halfway through. It was really good though and had a great ending. Looking forward to reading Vol 8.

This has been the most touching arc of SAO since the end of the original storyline. Truly one of the most touching moments I've read in a while, it got me reduced to tears. I'm so glad we finally had an arc centered around Asuna in which Kirito played only a small role. It was so good to see, she's a wonderful character.

This book was just as wonderful and touching as the anime version. The reveal of Yuuki and her friends, of who they are, and of the profound effect meeting them has on Asuna is amazingly well done. If you are a fan of Asuna you will enjoy this story focused on her.

I finished my first japanese light novel.
I love SAO, maybe more than it deserves but I can't help it.
The style of writing is just a bit above average but characters are nicely developed. Eventhough for a European person like me they seem to be oversensitive, not extremely but sometimes I had this feeling. Of course the topic the novel deals with is very deep and complicated but on the other hand I could sense the japanese mix of politeness and love for drama.
I mean the author even apologizes at the end of the novel that she gave one of the main characters sad past! Something which western people don't think that much about. Will it suit the mood of the story? Will it make the character more interesting? Yeah, let's kill his/her entire family and his/her dog, too! Yup, we're that bloodlusty bastards. :D
Anyway, if you have finished SAO and you have massive withdrawals because of lack of your favourite gaming addicts. (Let's face it the main cast are gaming addicts but the described gaming machines are so awesome that it makes videogame addiction look like the most desirable patological disease to have.)
