Updated review
I rated this higher first, but after a few hours of remembing inconsistencies and annoying things I came back to lower it. I'll leave the original below if anyone is interested in the "immediate" reaction.
I read it, and while I can't say I regret finishing it, I didn't really like it either.
The fmc was so good at gaslighting herself, no emotional manipulation should have been necessary. The whiplash of changing her convictions mid paragraph multiple times was jarring.
The mmc was a confused sociopath-type stalker millionaire who started out not caring about anyone but his obsession, but actually turned out to take care about basically everyone. Who committed crime after crime, and yet had a conscience (not enough to change, though ).
In hindsight, I think I only really enjoyed the first 1/3 of the book (it contained all the reasons I bought it), and after that I kept going on pace, mild curiosity and dirty talk alone.
Would not recommend, will not read again.
Original review
Well written, but not to my taste.
To be fair, I didn't read the content warnings because I didn't feel like going to a separate webpage. So a few of the tropes were not for me. While I was ready for the steam and the darkness, I simply don't enjoy heavy focus on starting a family.
The first 2/3 of the book were great, but then I started enjoying it less. I did consider DNFing several times, even at 96%. However, this was mostly due to my own preferences and not the quality of the book.
The saving grace of this special edition (compared to the original story) was the chapters from Xavier's POV, without them I would have called it quits about halfway through.
Would not recommend (unless you're very specifically into this), will not read again.

Ya'll. What did I do to deserve this? Is the universe punishing me for something that I don't know about? Because 3 swings and misses in a row are life ruining.
I want to see what people did in liking this book. There are many reviews that say the opposite of what I do.. and my only question is... how?
Marissa. Girl needs help. Her emotions give me so much whiplash that I think I broke my neck. Like...
ew Xavier, yes Xavier, stop being a creep Xavier, I love you Xavier, fuck off I hate you Xavier, Yes I'll marry you Xavier, No fucking take this ring back Xavier. GIRL PICK ONE.
Xavier. Who... What.... This boy makes no sense. He's like this golden rich boy that can get away with anything because privilidge. Sure got it. But then he's like supposed to be stalker-esque.. but really isn't because he's gathering info for a revenge. THEN.. THEN... he LOSES it crying that she wants to break up with him and then 20seconds later, after a third act bullshit drama about how he needs to marry to get his inheritance (like LETS CHOOSE ONE... revenge or inheritance plot) this bitch locks her up in a basement and tortures her to stay with him. Like WHO ARE YOU SIR??? Because you are like 3 different characters. Please be ONE.
Anyways... the third act bullshit dropped this from a 2 to a 1 star. The rest of the story was repetitive and forgettable. At least I'm done.

This book was so unhinged. I think during the majority of reading this my reactions were all audible.
“I’m sorry, do what now??”
“My dude I think she heard you the first time, yes she’s yours”
“Remind her of what? I forgot. Oh that’s right, you’re his and he owns you”
“Milk isn’t a snack?”
My absolute favorite was “Guess my c*ck lives here now.” I am never coming back from that one 💀
This was one of those stories you read standing up. Whenever you start to make your way to sit down, you get distracted and stop. Or you end up all scrunched up in some kind of weird yoga stance in the middle of your living room floor. Just me? Okay then. ðŸ˜
Kitty King, I’m not sure I can call you anything besides King for a little while.
Now I need to see my chiropractor and my shrink.

This book was the epitome of red flags and I could NOT put it down. Xavier was something for sure. This is a rewrite of the original and let me just say Kitty King did an amazing job with the rewrite! This book has stalker vibes, spice, Dom, trauma, you name it, it's there. Overall, I throughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read more! I read this book a week ago and AM STILL speechless. There are absolutely scenes that play over and over in my head rent free!
