Updated review
I rated this higher first, but after a few hours of remembing inconsistencies and annoying things I came back to lower it. I'll leave the original below if anyone is interested in the "immediate" reaction.

I read it, and while I can't say I regret finishing it, I didn't really like it either.

The fmc was so good at gaslighting herself, no emotional manipulation should have been necessary. The whiplash of changing her convictions mid paragraph multiple times was jarring.

The mmc was a confused sociopath-type stalker millionaire who started out not caring about anyone but his obsession, but actually turned out to take care about basically everyone. Who committed crime after crime, and yet had a conscience (
not enough to change, though
).

In hindsight, I think I only really enjoyed the first 1/3 of the book (it contained all the reasons I bought it), and after that I kept going on pace, mild curiosity and dirty talk alone.

Would not recommend, will not read again.

Original review
Well written, but not to my taste.

To be fair, I didn't read the content warnings because I didn't feel like going to a separate webpage. So a few of the tropes were not for me. While I was ready for the steam and the darkness, I simply don't enjoy heavy focus on starting a family.

The first 2/3 of the book were great, but then I started enjoying it less. I did consider DNFing several times, even at 96%. However, this was mostly due to my own preferences and not the quality of the book.

The saving grace of this special edition (compared to the original story) was the chapters from Xavier's POV, without them I would have called it quits about halfway through.

Would not recommend (unless you're very specifically into this), will not read again.
