This is a slim, glossy volume on Edward of Woodstock, the eldest son of Edward III and father of Richard II, best known to history by the anachronistic title ‘the Black Prince’. This is beautifully illustrated and worth looking at simply for the photos. The text is fairly brief and simple – this very much takes the view that the Black Prince was a military thug and nothing else, lacking the nuance of other biographies of the Prince, such as Michael Jones’s [b:The Black Prince|29618257|The Black Prince|Michael Jones|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1493720611s/29618257.jpg|49962263].
