What? What even happened, here? I guess this is a set-up book? Very little in the way of plot. Mostly meeting a sister and that's it. The overarching plot was basically non-existent. It can be summed up in 2 sentences. I'm not sure what the point of this was. Filler? I guess it was nice seeing the sister, she'll probably come back in a later book since this was such a nothing book. Still enjoyable, but it felt more like slice-of-life.

An entire book devoted to Seong-Jae and Malcolm healing and spending time together? Heck yes! I really enjoyed this step away from cases, and the time spent dealing with the aftermath of the previous book. Seong-Jae is really struggling - with guilt and grief, with his addiction, and with accepting his new relationship with Malcolm. Then his sister shows up and he's instantly in big brother mode! I loved seeing the siblings interact and getting that softer side to Seong-Jae. Likewise, it was nice to see Malcolm taking care of Seong-Jae, learning Korean, and showing Seong-Jae's sister how much he cares for her brother. Meanwhile, things continue to build in the background, and the ending left me wanting to start the next book right now!

It was really sweet and I loved meeting Seong-Jae's little sister, but it was also super short and didn't really have much of a real plot or case? More of an extra/filler than a book by itself (and going by the length, it is a novella, not a novel).

All the books are pretty purple prose-y at times but there were some scenes here that really felt like that, especially the sex scene. At times I had a hard time figuring out what they were even doing because it was so flowery and full of metaphors for fucking.

Forgot I already read this one

**Time to admit my goal of writing a detailed review for each episode was just a pipe dream. Instead, I'm adding the notes I jot down quickly between episodes.

These will all have major spoilers, read at your own risk.**

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a god job. Borrowed via Hoopla.

I'M SO DONE! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!!!!!

It was the sweetest, saddest and cruelest thing I've read in this series so far Q_Q

“That’s all living is, Seong-Jae. Finding a way, every day, to live with the outcomes of every choice we’ve made.”
