i read this in one sitting because i skimmed the F out of it LOL. im not a big fan of survival stories so what did i really expect right? i thought this would have a bit more mystery aspect and was wrong. this was so repetitive, literally every chapter was the same which is like duh since she is in the woods trying to survive but like not fun to read about ya know? I really thought the Before timeline was going to be a lot more fleshed out and interesting but no thats like 3 chapters and then BAM she's in the woods. okay anyways this book was not poorly written by any means and i can definitely see how people who are interested in survival stories would enjoy this! i think after this i am definitely going to leave this genre alone lmao.

Spoiler also the fucking DOG DIES BRO LIKE WHAT THE FUCK

After her mother is killed in a car accident that leaves her with bad legs, Jess is sent to live with her father in what she thinks will be Alaska. Turns out her father had to get away and lives in the middle of nowhere Canada. After he is brutally murdered by some men he sadly got mixed up with earlier in life, Jess has to survive in the wilderness with just her instincts and a dog.

My life has become a list of things that almost killed me. A strange and improbable list, but fully immersive and adrenaline-soaked. It's a wilderness tale story with a twist. And a twist. Tense and tangible and hard to put down. Highly satisfying.

The best of all her books that I've read so far. Should be 4 stars, but she loses one for killing the dog.

Hunter and I read this book together. Of course I was the one reading towards then end during a particularly sad moment and I could barely read the words with tears in my eyes. A good book.

i'm enjoying survival stories and there were some good elements of that in here. crazy story, amazing dog, quick and compelling to see if she would make it.

Hatchet, next generation. A character to cheer and root for, a dog without peer. Normally I crave dialog in a novel. I did not miss it in this one.
