read aloud with L&C
Like King Arthur, we didn’t read every chapter but we liked what we did read (a little more than half). Cam is sad we won’t read it all together now but is excited to try reading it on his own in a few years when we cycle back around to this period in history

A good book, especially if you like Robin Hood. However, if you don't like reading "thee" and "thou" language, this book is not for you. It is a wonderful compilation of Robin Hood's adventures, and I laughed out loud at many of them.

Read with my son. Felt more like bros in a forest and less like robbing the rich and paying the poor.

Read for class. Fun, just not really my style of book? It's intended for children, also.

More akin to Arthurian Legends than to most Robin Hood ballads, it is still a cheerful collection of stories that bring back a time of innocence and gaiety.
Graphic: Animal death, Violence, Grief, Alcohol, Classism
Moderate: Death, Blood, Kidnapping, Religious bigotry, Abandonment, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Ableism, Cursing, Sexism, Xenophobia, War
Be aware that this text contains threats of hanging, outlaws, traditional gender roles, missing character arcs, living outside of normal society, a lot of fighting (both for sport and defence), and no people of colour.
I went into this book knowing the general idea of Robin Hood - an outlaw taking from the rich and giving to those in need. I didn't know much more than that, so I went into this fairly blind. I enjoyed reading his adventures, but I did find them quite repetitive. Considering his adventures were really meant to be children's tales, I can forgive that. I did find Robin to be kind of a jerk at times, but others not so much. It was a fun and easy read. I may visit Sherwood again someday.
