This wasn't nearly as good as I remember it being. It was too fast paced for my liking and the only character I like was a bird for half the book.

The protagonist is sooooo whiny. She seriously detracts from the book, which has a pretty cool plot. I felt like she was just a person to follow through a bunch of very interesting events happening all at once, and that if she wasn't in the book that there would still be an interesting story. Even though I'm giving this 2 stars, I'm still going to finish the series because maybe she'll grow up. Also I already checked the books out and put them on my nook.

Set in the traditional world of the Fey, author relies on readers previous knowledge of myths. As a result did not set the stage or do much character development. First in a series, not sure if I will read the rest. Also didn't like how quickly the characters developed romantic feelings, without much development or true understanding of personalities or what the future would hold. Main character is 16 years old.

Jesus, the protagonist is irritating. If you can think of a new way to screw up or just be generally irritating in a way she didn't manage to blunder into during this book, you're an evil mastermind. For real.
There are a ridiculous amount of parallels with Labyrinth as well-- they don't end solely with the kidnapped brother.
Not the worst book I've read; I actually quite enjoyed parts of it and may continue with the series to see what happens. Maybe the author will take mercy on me and kill off Meghan.
