A coming of age book that really captured the angst and stupidity of the teenage years. I guessed early on the basics of what was going to happen, and it was terrible to watch that train wreck happen. All of that was believable to me. Taking 12 years to deal with it? not so much. But I was happy with the ending.

I did find myself wanting to know what happened but this book was boring to me.

This book is summer and smells of sunscreen, coconut, sunshine and childhood. It brings me back to a time that I never experienced but felt like I did anyway. It made me a summer camp girlie, and I’ve loathed the idea of summer camp my whole life.
It’s about the love story of Percy and Sam who were torn apart by (main conflict) for 12 years and now they’ve reconnected and we’re in the throes of their pining and heartache and love. I was waiting the entire time for the shoe to drop and when it did, I was crushed. I can’t give 5 stars because of the reveal which I am still salty about. I’m ignoring the main conflict, I don’t like it, it doesn’t exist. Also ladies do not take this as a sign to hit up your first love/exes, Sam does not exist in real life, our exes are still trash. My heart breaks for every one in this book (ok more for some than others, I’m looking at you Percy, you know what you did). And because we follow them from their childhood till now, the investment in their love is unparalleled.
What a beautiful book my goodness. It made me nostalgic about a summer/childhood/first love I never had and the writing is beautifully immersive. There’s grief, found family, first loves, lost loves, loneliness, growing up, guilt, loneliness, forgiveness. My heart is so full and heavy from their story.

Oh my. This book was given to me to read by a friend. It wasn’t on my radar at all but she enjoyed it and thought I would too. She was absolutely right! What a joy to read. A heartfelt and realistic story. I highly recommend reading it!
This story takes place over several teenage summers and also in the present. Persephone, Percy, is in her 30s and living in Toronto when she gets a call from Charlie, a boy from her past, calling her back to the lake where she spent summers as a teen. When she goes back to the lake she flashes back to her summers there and all that happened in those lazy summer days. She befriended the boys in the cottage next door and those friendships developed into something more, familial like. Something happens one summer and breaks up this “happy family”, which is why they haven’t spoken in twelve years. There is healing when coming back to the cottage and spending time together. Sharing secrets that have been held onto through the years.

A cheesy romance book that hits all the things you want it to hit.
