Count of Eight is deviantly dark and light at the same time. Anya has been a slave for 3 years and no longer looks forward to living life until her new dance partner is brought to her. Ezra brings his light to Anya’s soul until Nikolai catches them in a comprising situation.
A darkish read, written in first-person POV with alternating perspectives.
While it had some very dark elements, and I love dark reads, it just didn’t grip me the way most dark reads tend to. It was a bit slow-paced for me and the lead characters and their chemistry fell a bit flat for me. That said, I wouldn’t say this is bad at all—just, not quite for me. The writing was decent and the world-building somewhat intriguing.
Crime families.
Trafficking.
Training / grooming / torture.
Dr0wning.
Dancers.
Non-con.
Manipulation, extortion.
Overall: 3 stars.

Ok, this is for the dark readers! Unique plot with lots of forced proximity, trauma bonding and a non HEA. Delicious.
This book left me speachless. It is so well written. Brynn Ford really did an absolutely amazing job writing this book.
The first few chapters made me realize how dark this book was going to be and I almost didn't continue reading it. But once I got past the initial shock, I just couldn't put it down.
The story was so heart-ripping and the main charater is a such a strong individual. There were moments in the store when I got teary-eyed, because of what she went through, is still going through.
I will be reading the rest of the series, because this one ended on a cliffhanger and I really want to know how the story ends.
Please make sure to read TWs before reading this one, because it does talk about slavery, sexual abuse and human trafficking.
