I enjoyed Slave of Froize. Good plot, interesting characters, and lots of violence. So much violence it seemed forced. I found the Prince Jett to be weak and not worth swooning over. So luckily while the book does have a small romance component, it is not the main focus. It seems to head that way though and you are waiting for it.  I found Laramie to be like a mama and common sense advisor to him. And in this world of cut throat vampires, I don't see how she could have survived so long with her smart mouth and the violent beatings. Also how is vampire spit so acidic but they can kiss and bed humans. So while I enjoyed the story, there was some issues for me. Anyway glad it ends all wrapped up for the most part because I will not be continuing the trilogy.

No spoilers but the ending kind of angered me, and in general, Jett is a coward.

A heroine to get behind!

Ok I looooooovvvveeeedddd Laramie. She was strong and smart and compassionate. I am very picky about female mcs because I know so many amazing women in real life that a lot of times the women in books are lackluster. This was not the case with Laramie. The writing was also really great, with the story being engaging and flowing smoothly. King Jett is kinda meh. I liked that he didn’t immediately fall for her and treat her differently. That happens too often in books where people are supposed to fear the ruler but right away the female mc is a soft spot. I liked the tentative friendship they struck up, but gosh he was just kind of spineless when it came to leading. And when it came to the queen. I just wanted more from him. Actually I was rooting for Tahmas until the epilogue. This was published in 2020 so I don’t know that we’ll get the other two books but I would enjoy seeing where she could take the story and characters.
I wish the author would have added TW/CW. But since she didn’t I will to my review
TW/CW: semi graphic torture and the aftermath the hotbox scene is ROUGH. Abuse where the vampires treat the humans very badly.
