It’s a fun read for sure, but predictable and lacks the world-building needed to really suck you in.

I enjoy the banter and the layers of plot. I go back and forth on liking Lor, but I find myself mostly rooting for her. It was a quick read with a good balance of description and dialogue.

I haven’t read the Throne of Glass series yet, so I can’t say if this is a rip-off as I’ve read multiple times on the internet. I had fun reading Trial of the Sun Queen. It reminded me of The Selection by Kiera Cass, just with older contestants, more blood, more intrigues, more murder, death, and violence. Perhaps a splash of The Hunger Games could be found in there as well. I’m excited to read the other books!

3.5 stars.

It was a fun book. pretty predictable (unfortunately), a fmc with a decent personality, and enough action to keep me entertained. it's not the pinnacle of perfection, but I enjoyed it well enough.

Plot was okay, writing seemed poor. Alot of swearing 'cause I can' sort of thing and repeated description of characters and places nothing new.
