I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! A super engaging historical fiction about the American Civil War; a topic that I'm not too clued up on and didn't know I could find engaging. I really appreciated the perspectives from both the Union and Confederate sides of the war. The topic of slavery isn't too deeply focused on, but I feel that this makes some sense since the focus is on the battlefield, rather than the politics behind the war. I also really appreciated the maps that appeared during major battles - helped me to visualise the scenarios well which can sometimes be a problem for me. I will be reading the sequels to this!
Graphic: Death, Violence, War, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Gun violence and Medical content
Minor: Child death, Miscarriage, Racism, and Slavery
