Finally finished this one! I lost my hold at the library and had to wait a couple months to pick it up again… it’s possible this hiatus influenced my review. I loved the last third when the plot actually picked up, but not even its super interesting concept could change the fact that the majority of this book was super slow.

I’m not NOT recommending, but if you lose your hold at the library like I did, you could probably just google the ending.

I find with a lot of books along these lines, I enjoy things up until about 70% of the way through. And then…we hit the slew of coincidences and the cartoonish reveal of the dastardly culprit. And that was certainly the case here. Great feel good fiction if that’s what you’re looking for, but if some books get tied up with a bow, this one has been professionally gift wrapped.

Good for: fans of Susan Meissner and Kristen Hannah

Really closer to 2.5 stars. The story had potential but after the first third it fell flat. I found the storytelling to be choppy at times, the characters lacked development I also struggled with the dialogue at times. Towards the middle of the book it seemed like the story stalled, it became repetitive, could have moved forward at a much quicker pace.
