Again, another immensely helpful companion from Samantha Shannon! The worldbuilding and magic system of The Bone Season is so wonderfully nuanced and complex that sometimes it can be a bit hard to keep of, but this was such a helpful (whilst biased) guide to the world. I definitely feel I’ll have a better grasp of the world now when I start book 2! The book, whilst designed to be an academic text, is very cleverly written and witty, and Shannon channelled Jaxon’s character so well in her writing! Despite its academic style, I wasn’t bored whilst reading this!

Starting the Bone Season re-read with this little gem. Actually wish I had read this originally before I started the season as it would have been a great little guide.
Absolutely love the Whimsical Use of Capital Letters. Definitely Read this Before You Start Bone Season.

Ahh, I've missed this world. I'm about to dive in to book 3 (The Song Rising) so I thought I better catch up on the novellas I'd missed. This didn't disappoint. I absolutely loathe Jaxon but reading from his voice never fails to entertain! This world is so complex and interesting and this was a great contribution to it!

It was interesting and boring at the same time. Same voyances where obvious since they are well known in the real world and others were new to me. However, you can definitely go without reading this "pamphlet".

i love that SS gave us the pamphlet. it's much more detailed than book diagrams and appendixes.

it's also a testament to her incredibly complex and thought out worldbuilding and systems.
