Detective Robyn Carter, returning to the police force after a series of personal tragedies, dives into several investigations; a husband has gone missing and a man turns up murdered. Once she begins her investigations, she sees a link between these men. As she digs deeper and deeper, her investigation leads her to housewife Abigail and her family. How is she connected to these victims and why is she receiving threatening messages; there are secrets and someone wants those secrets told. When Abigail’s daughter is abducted, the race is on to find the perpetrator in time…
Well, Bookoutue has done it again! Little Girl Lost, the upcoming detective thriller by Carol Wyer, is absolutely nail biting. This serial killer thriller is riveting, fast-paced and tense. From the first page, I was hooked; I could not put this book down.
Be warned, there are moments where this novel is downright confusing. The novel is told through multiple point of views; we hear from Detective Robyn Carter as she works through the investigation, the housewife, Abigail, as she works through her threatening caller and questions her family and then a view from a girl who was sexually abused as a girl and is now seeking revenge. I struggled the first half of the book reading all the narratives and struggling to see how they all fit together. Halfway through the book, once everything clicked, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. Wyer blends these narratives effortlessly and with a slew of red herrings and some delicious twists, the plot unfolds.
I will not say anything more, keeping this review short and sweet, as to not spoil any of this delicious plot but, let me tell you, this novel would appeal to any crime fiction fan; I would start to read it on a day where you have no other commitments; you won’t want to put this one down! I gave it a 5/5 stars! This one is on sale January 19, 2017.
Thanks to Bookouture, Carol Wyer and Netgalley, I voluntarily received a digital copy; it was my pleasure to write an honest review.

What a book! I can not wait for the rest of the series to come out!
This is a definite 'to look out for' novel for 2017.
With three narrative voices employed to tell the tale, we first meet Alice, a little girl beginning to suffer abuse at the hands of her stepbrother-to-be. Alice unsurprisingly develops a rather destructive streak and we learn more about her as we move through the book.
Next, we meet Detective inspector Robyn, who, suffering from recent and terrible loss, is throwing herself into her job to try and push the hurt away. She pushes her mind and body to the limit and is an excellent, believable and strong woman.
We then meet Abigail who seems to have the perfect life with her new baby Izzy and her handsome pilot husband. As life starts to get weird for Abby, we soon discover that she has a whole closet full of secrets that are threatening to spill out. Things escalate quickly and Abby has to figure out how to protect her family and the life she has made for herself.
There are several other characters who play an important role in this tale of abuse, secrets and ultimately revenge, but the main focus is on the 3 women, shifting character viewpoint from chapter to chapter - this is an effective approach within this novel and doesn't feel, like it sometimes does, to be done for effect. The flow is seamless.
I found this book to be a real breath of fresh air. I kind of got what was coming about 2/3 of the way through, which is quite late for me, however I was still gripped right to the end - I wasn't quite sure if I was right or wrong, and even then there was still some detail that I hadn't known when I originally had the moment of realisation.
Little Girl Lost is to be the first in the Robyn Carter series and I am greatly looking forward to the next one.
I received an advance copy of this novel from Netgalley & the publisher in return for an honest review.

My review of Little Girl Lost by Carol Wyer
2017 has been a feast of 5-star books for me and Carol Wyer is at the top of my list. It was minutes between ending Little Girl Lost and beginning the next in the series, Secrets of the Dead.
Carol Wyer weaves a tale of hurt, pain, secrets, and changed identities. Abigail is the center of a whirlwind of activity. Missing people, dead people, and Abigail is being threatened. Creepy voiced phone calls, voices in her house, emails, texts... all that disappear as quickly as they appear. Her husband Jackson thinks she's lost her mind.
DI Robyn Carter has a painful past as well, and while she grieves the loss of her boyfriend Davies, she works for her cousin Ross's PI firm. Upon returning to the force, she still enlists the help of Ross... mostly to carry off the things she'd get herself in trouble for. LOL Ross is totally lovable, and is an enjoyable asset to the story.
Little Girl Lost does contain some pedophelia. Carol Wyer allows you to understand the gravity of what is going on without a whole lot of graphics.
I read Little Girl Lost quickly, I couldn't put it down. Every time I thought I knew what was going on, it turned out to be totally wrong. TWISTY!!
I read a few reviews which stated that the book is slow, graphic and too long. I don't agree with that at all. First, graphic doesn't bother me, I know it's fake. I stated above that it wasn't too graphic and I still agree. This is a long book, yes, but engaging and well paced.
5-Stars
5-stars and two thumbs up. If you are into twisty crime thrillers, Carol Wyer is one to have on your watch list!
