Two and a half stars.
After book one, this is more of the same. Just with a different main baddie. What I am missing in the Dresden Files are secondary characters that you can relate to. All Dresden has in his life are two one-dimensional women. One he is in a sort of relationship with and the other is the police officer Murphy. Neither have any depth to them but are just people who occasionally pop-up, talk, help or hinder Dresden without any real character development.
Especially Murphy is extremely irritating. Even after having worked with Dresden for years, she constantly switches from seeing Dresden as helpful to seeing his as the bad guy. It's a tiresome way of adding some more tension to the book. A tension that doesn't really exist anyway, because nothing will ever happen to Dresden.
I've come to the conclusion that the Dresden Files work best in short story format as they do not have enough story/depth to warrant a full book. So I'm going to read the short stories and not bother with the other books.

[4] I always wanna hate Harry Dresden as a character but he is just so pathetic and broke (I mean this all in the nicest way). The action/mystery was much better paced here than in the first book. We get a lot of backstory hints that are so interesting.

Didn’t like this as much as the first one, but I still found it entertaining.
Another fun read following Harry Dresden on a dark "adventure".

While entertaining this was no where near as good as the first one. I know most people consider this entry to be one of the worst of the series but it wasn't bad. I am probably going to take small break before moving to the next one but I'm excited to see where this goes.
