Great book. Again, Jenkins takes her time building this world and does the research to make this time period come alive!

I so love the stories that are written by thus author. Beverly Jenkins just writes women so well. Love that I get to read historical stories about black women. Her stories have made me all kinds of happy! I want more!

Stubborn women are my favorite women. Cutesy 19th century historical romance, no funny miscommunication business

Dr. Princess is a vibeeeeee !
An educated baddie with sassy and a good shot ! I love her. Never thought I would be swooning over a dad but Nate won me over easily.

Their love story was so fun and seductively spicy
But also Im always going to learn a thing or two when reading Beverly Jenkins

I LOVED this book on my first read, but a little less so on my reread. The MMC's misogyny really got to me this time

This book is a cornerstone to the Beverly Jenkins historical romance universe. It’s informative with a lot of history on all Black towns founded by newly freed or escaped slaves. History in female Black physicians. There is plenty supporting cast that readers can enjoy as well. There are heavy themes throughout.
