Absolutely fantastic. I’ve long been a fan of the Nausicaa film - it’s my favorite ghibli movie - and I’ve been meaning to read the manga it’s based off of forever.

I can see a lot of the movie elements here, though it doesn’t cover everything, yet also see how it’s going to shift into much deeper, more complex plot. In fact, it already is. I love the movie and regard it as pretty darn perfect, but I’m very excited to see the original take on this idea.

A great start, and I can’t wait to read the rest.

A very tentative 4-star rating. I had started reading this quite awhile ago, became bored, and figured I would give it a try another time. I recently read a post on reddit about someone who had finished the series and they made it sound very interesting, so here I am. The themes seem up my alley, so let's see where it goes.

Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Complicated

Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

via NYPL - lots thrown at the reader in this one, and the art - while striking and dynamic at times - is often unclear as to what is occurring or who is speaking. Intriguing, strong environmental themes, some legacy and honor conflicts unfolding, but I hope the next six volumes become a little bit clearer.

Beautiful. After watching the movie, I'm grateful for a deeper dive into this fascinating story from one of my favorite creators.

Just getting started! Excited to continue the series- it’s giving me Ferngully vibes.

I am not very good at reading graphic novels, but I did enjoy this one! I think it has a lot of interesting plot points and imagery and it was fun to read. Honestly, the star-rating is based more on my inability to read graphic novels...

Temporary DNF, will come back to it.
