This was by far the best of the three so far for me. A lot more depth to the story and less cliche. I have a feeling this is one of those series I'll love by the end and then reread and feel very different about the early books. My issue is that it's giving generic TOG characters and plots. The story is a little chaotic and drags at parts then rushes at others. There were also many parts (mostly dialogue) that I struggled to follow. Looking past all of that, the story is engaging and I'm invested.

This one has been my favorite of the series so far. I struggled with the addition of Zaianna’s character at the beginning but by the end I loved her and her story

This book had a really excellent final 100 pages and I wish like hell that we were continuing that momentum instead of heavily hitting the brakes and reversing back to Tauria and Nik. Also apologies for being a hater but doing a nearly two full books worth of slow-burn is a very bold move when the rest of the plot is barely giving you crumbs to look forward to

I’m taking a break from this story. It’s too much like Throne of Glass and Crown of Feathers stories. The similarities make it difficult to focus on the unique aspects and I’m just tired of trying. Maybe I’ll come back to it, DNF for now

Zaiana’s pov chapters carried this entire book! interesting book with a more unique direction than the last one for sure! Excited to see what the author does with the rest of the series!!

New characters are introduced and the stakes ramp up even higher in book three of An Heir Comes to Rise. Everyone told me this series just keeps getting better and better and they were absolutely right (thank you, N. and everyone who has rec'd these to me!). I am so excited to continue this series and see what happens next for Faythe and Reylen and the rest of the crew.

No because I don’t think anyone could talk me out of my love for this series. The last half of this book just put me through so much emotional turmoil (in the best way) and I don’t think I’ll ever recover. Once this series is over I’m not sure I’ll be able to let it go. I’m immediately starting the next book and will probably read it in one sitting.
