I saw a lot of different elements this time around. Definitely not quite the "fun" read I thought the first time about ten years ago.

I read this for AP Literature. I enjoyed it as an assigned reading and really enjoyed the trio in the play. Watching segments of My Fair Lady really reinforced the play and actions of the characters as well. I am disappointed by the sequel but not surprised.

Being Higgins is being hardheaded

Being a big fan of My Fair Lady, I was already familiar with the story of Pygmalion. I was even familiar enough to know that Pygmalion's ending is different from the famous musical (having seen the 1930's film). I was not however, prepared for the ending of the story to be a postscript by the author rather then part of the play. Shaw ends the play in a way that leaves you hanging, but he wrote a postscript about what he believes became of the characters. Some reviews I read seemed to really enjoy the postscript, but I found myself disliking it. I personally like the ending of My Fair Lady, but my main issue was that the postscript to Pygmalion was not written in play format. If Shaw had continued the play instead of writing a postscript, I may have had an easier time with it.
I thought that the play itself was quite witty, I found myself laughing aloud multiple times. Much of the script is used in the musical word for word. Shaw seems to have rather progressive views for his time period, and I enjoyed the social commentary.
Overall I really loved this play and would have given it five stars if it weren't for the fragmented ending.
