I've been looking for books about resurrectionists and I've been recommanded this one, and I've been served! I loved it!

We really get the whole job as a resurrectionnist, here in New York, but also happening years after the Burke & Hare era so we also get death related to burking (killed to sell they cadavre) and a hint to those people. However there is nothing gory at all, so it was very well done.

We get both this work as well as Cora's two hearts story. It was very interesting to read, especially a big part of the ending when she's trying to escape those who want to kill her for her hearts. It was really gripping and you can also see Cora's evolution regarding how she sees her works and a whole new perspective. Also the plot twists, while they were kinda easy to guess, were going way more farther that what was expected so it was great!

BEWARE TW : some passages are hard to read, expecially crude men up to go to sexual harassment and assault and sometimes more (I can't say more without spoiler, but it's not rape). Also there is a pregnancy being forced on.

I adored this book and immediately tore through 3 more Lydia Kang novels. I would 100% read this again. Cora is such a great character and I never saw any of the twists coming. 

This book was a different read for me as I don’t usually biological types of books. I read this in about a week and really enjoyed it! The twists at the end both shocked and enthralled me, would definitely recommend. Only lost half a point as some of the writing is a bit clunky and it was, in places, too anatomical and gory for me personally.
