Goddess Interrupted ended with a massive cliffhanger that I admittedly did not see coming. While I figured that this book would have a lot of action and twists and turns, I was not expecting it to start off the way it did. Even though there was a sort of pulse-pounding pace to the events, I felt strangely disinterested at the start, and it took me a while to get into the story. This made for a strange reading experience, because - while I wanted to know what was going to happen and how everything would come together - I kept waiting for the plot and characters to really grab me. And, while I finished this book at a fairly fast clip (the second half especially reads very quickly), that never really happened.

The reason for this was, unfortunately, our main character. Kate has admittedly been through hell in the nine months she was being held captive, and she's put into a situation that I can't even imagine, but, honestly she just got on my nerves. And I don't really think that's what the author was going for. Kate was such a strong person in the first book, and I found myself rooting for her over and over again. Then she turned into a whining, crying girl who was full of self-doubt in the second book. And then, in the third, she turned into that girl that you're screaming at because, if she just would TALK TO HER HUSBAND, things perhaps could have been figured out without all the drama they inevitably end up going through. There's also a lot of circling around the same thing, which was that she couldn't be mad at Henry because he did exactly what she was willing to do, but she couldn't believe he'd done it, but she was going to do the same, etc., etc., etc., and, seriously, enough. There were so many times when I just wanted to reach through my Kindle and strangle her for her stupidity; she was just very hasty and really didn't think things out very well at all. Even at the end, it took someone else to make her realize what needed to be done, and by then I was just really done.

Also? Walter is a complete and utter bastard. Talk about someone who needed a swift kick in the arse! Between him and Kate there was plenty for me to shake my fist and mutter about, which I was doing pretty much throughout the book.

All of these complaints aside, there were things I really did enjoy a lot. I loved this rendition of Chronos, and also Rhea. I appreciated how villainous Calliope was. Henry was really rather swoon-worthy in this installment, and I enjoyed the mother-daughter relationship between Diana and Kate a lot. I also found this book to be compelling, even if things were driving me crazy. And I loved that we got to see Ingrid again! The twists and turns were also done well enough that I was constantly guessing as to what was happening, which is always a good thing.

While I couldn't help but be disappointed in some things, I still found The Goddess Inheritance to be a decent finish to the series, and am glad I read it through to its completion. While I can't help but think the ending was tied up a bit too nicely, I was pleased with most aspects of the story itself. I am a little concerned by the statement at the end of the book that this is the end of the Goddess Test series "for now," though; I really don't think any other installments are really necessary. That being said, Ms. Carter has a new non-Goddess Test book coming out this fall, and I enjoyed her writing well enough that I definitely will be checking that one out!

I so looked forward to this book because I really loved the characters and I related to her in a way. But this last one was such a let down. I found myself forcing myself to finish it just so I could more on to something better. It was really a let down as a final book.

This third installment started a little slow, but once I got into it I finished it very quickly. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable series.

Nine months have passed since the surprise betrayal at the end of the last book. The gods have been battling with Cronus all this time, and Kate is still waiting for Henry to realize she’s missing. But Calliope induces the birth, and Kate brings her son into a world of chaos and war. Desperate to keep her son safe, Kate makes a bargain with Cronus. Then Henry arrives to save the day, only things go terribly wrong. It’ll be up to Kate now to save her son, her husband, the gods, and all of humanity.

Kate hasn’t changed much through these books. She’s still a martyr who’ll do the most desperate thing to save those she loves. A noble sentiment, just not very smart, which in turn makes her whine a lot when her plans blow up in her face. It’s expected since she’s a new goddess, still too trusting and naïve in certain things, but I’d hoped she learned better by now. As a new mother, Kate’s moments with her son were both tender and heart wrenching. Seeing Calliope try to raise him as her own made me want to scream. And then Henry! Oh dear Henry. I know Cronus is a psycho monster who’s after your wife, but think before going into battle!

Cronus was an interesting villain in the last book, and I’d hope to see him more developed here. But he’s a Titan and very basic in his needs: Kate, destruction, freedom. I did think it was out of character how he drew his evil plans on the floor. Unless it was Calliope who did it, then it would make sense since she’s bat shit crazy.

I have no idea why I struggled to finish this book. The first one was a whirlwind of romance and mystery, the second one a fast-paced race through the beautiful and haunting landscape of the Underworld, and this one…didn’t have anything special. The tone was somber with all the war, goodbyes and sacrifices, and Kate’s constant freak-outs, whine sessions, and bouts of martyrdom didn’t appeal to me. I just wanted Kate to focus and get things done.

Luckily, the ending picks up the pace. There are a few old characters that return and their execution was flawless. The battle kept me guessing who was going to die, and then it was a bittersweet surprise who made the ultimate sacrifice. This is the last book in the series, so I liked how things got wrapped up pretty nicely. It’s been an awesome ride and it’s a series I’ll definitely come back to whenever I’m craving Greek mythology.

I really enjoyed this series, and I think the author did an amazing job of combining action, love, and life lessons in a short series that was easy to read and engaging. I loved the love story in the series, and how the character grew throughout it. I would definitely recommend this series for Percy Jackson lovers or greek myths lovers.

A beautiful conclusion to what has officially become one of my favorite series. I was literally devastated by the last pages of Goddess Interrupted, with its cliffhanger that had left me in crisis for days. But all the pain caused by the distance from the third and final book release has been well rewarded. I have not been at all disappointed by "The Goddess Inheritance" which indeed proved to be the best of all three books of the series of Goddess Test.

I loved Kate, although she has always been a wise girl despite her young age, due to the illness of her mother, in "The Goddess Inheritance" she has proven to be a real fighter, ready to do anything to save the people she loves, willing to give up her own life to protect them. Deprived of what she holds dearest in the world, Kate will do everything, even to come to terms with the enemy.

Henry, who left me a little disappointed because of his insecurity in Goddess Interrupted, now showed his strength and put everything at risk in order to obtain a well-deserved happiness.

Calliope and Chronus have proven to be villians difficult to forget, with their wickedness and their hatred of Kate and the God's Council they proved to be ruthless beings.

"The Goddess Inheritance" is story full of twists, pressing, with never a quiet moment but we are immediately thrown in the fight against the Titan and the traitor.

Intrigues and betrayals follow one another in the story, page after page, leaving us with the question of who to trust to the end.
In the struggle for survival nothing is as it seems and to distrust of everything is the only way to win.
Will The enemy be defeated? Is the happiness of Kate now lost?

Thanks to NetGalley & Harlequin Teen for providing me with an early copy of this book!

I definitely though the second book of the series was the best, this one was predictable and I knew what was going to happen at the start.
