I liked it, but I didn't love it.
Miren O'Malley is the last first-born daughter of the clan. Her grandmother hopes to use her as a bargaining chip to restrengthen the bond the first mother of the O'Malley's made with the sea. Like any other YA heroine, Miren has other ideas. The story follows her as she slowly unravels the family secrets in order to break the original bond with the sea.
I liked the writing and the overall rather gothic vibe of the story, but I felt that the pacing was off (especially the first half dragged on for far too long, in my opinion).

Pulls no punches, grim as fairytales should be. Lyric and creative.

I really enjoyed the way the narrator brought this book alive for me it was really fun to listen too. The book itself was fun a little dark at times but I quite enjoyed the stories with in the book. Shame Miren didn't actually get to meet her parents but I did like that she got away from hobbs hollow.

Not bad. It's just a really slow builder. Once the story really got going it was pretty good.

Gorgeous, grim, and gothic, this story mixes many fairytales together and gives you a woven blanket of spidersilk; beautiful, creepy, with elements that stick to you long after you move past them. Unputdownable.
