This was a fun book. I love lists, so I enjoyed that this book was written as lists, which worked surprisingly well.

How cute is this? Recently at my store a mom asked for a book for her middle grade kid that doesn't have magic or sadness. FITTING THE BILL RIGHT HERE.

Super cute chapter book written through lists. Fifth grader Annie has an incredible talent at remembering all kinds of little details, and sometimes this leads to trouble. I loved the format; such an interesting way to tell a story.

5 Reasons you should read this book:
1. It is a book written in lists - how cool is that?
2. If you've ever struggled to fit in and find your place, you might be able to relate
3. There is an embarrassing kickball incident (unfortunately, I have my own embarrassing underwear story
4.To find out what Annie's real name is
5. To learn Annie's amazing talent - really - she is almost invisible at times

There was a moment early on when I started feeling like the ongoing lists were getting a little too rambling and stream-of-consciousness, but then the story kicked in and that sense went away. In fact, the lists became an ever more effective vehicle for Annie to tell her story. The novelty and fun never wore off, Annie's observations are keen, and the lists really allow her personality to shine through. Highly relatable and enjoyable.

This was really sweet. Annie's quiet, but she has a lot of personality. Believable characters and situations. The author, Kristin Mahoney, got the voice of the age just right. It's hard moving and leaving your best and only friend. It's harder to leave when it's your fault. It's even harder when your brother isn't talking to you. Loved how the story moved forward in list format. I think my students who struggle to read will especially appreciate the variation.

At first I resisted getting into this book because of the format- Annie's lists. But after I made the adjustment, I liked getting to know Annie, the main character. This is a good read for upper elementary.

Annie is an insufferably annoying character and I eventually got fed-up with her attitude and quit the book; she had mega "pick-me" vibes and it frequently felt like the author was trying to self-insert herself into the story for some sort of validation.

Conceptually, the idea of a book composed almost entirely of lists is intriguing and unique, but unfortunately the characters didn't support the concept palatably.
