Did this book scare me? No. Did Like reading this book? Absolutely! Even though I wasn't scared, I still felt the suspense this book was going for and was constantly drawn to the story. I think this was a good mystery book and I had an excellent time reading it.

So good except….

I’m a person who needs a definite ending. If you don’t mind books without a definition explanation and ending then this might not be your favorite. That said it was a very good book that had constant action from page one and I did enjoy it!

It's extremely dark and a bit demanding of a book but I kind of ended up loving it. This is the first book of Ahlborn's that I've read but I will make it a point to check out her other stories. I enjoyed the atmosphere she created and how subtly, almost discreetly, builds her characters. I don't know if that's consistent in her writing style but it really stood out in a good way here.

It is like I mentioned very dark, there's no real light moments or levity to be found it's fairly unrelenting in that fact which is mostly true it seems to the world the story lives in. There's also not a single likeable character in the book including the main protagonist Stevie. I feel a lot of sympathy for him, he has everything going against him and he's trying to do the right thing but I wouldn't ever want to spend anytime with him.

All that said it's 100% worth checking out if you want a legitimate and original horror story.

Each time I sat down to read, I was totally immersed. A creepy atmosphere and horrifying tragedy. Well done and well pulled together!

4.5 for me. It captured my attention the whole time and had an ambiguous ending. I don't like the epilogue so much (I skimmed it) but the core book was quite good.
