This is a primer on new monasticism for evangelical protestants. As a non-evangelical who is already familiar with new monasticism I found this book lacked the level of detail I was after, and found myself growing impatient several chapters before the end. Unfortunately the book has also dated quickly, particularly since the revelations of Jean Vanier's sexual abuse. As such I don't think this book is fit for purpose. Why are all the communities mentioned founded by men, or husband and wife teams? Where is the discussion of gender and safeguarding?
