I love the premise but the non-stop violence means that I am not going to be putting this in my space. Maybe a high school?

Amazing book for old school and new school fans of manga.
Funny and over the top action mixed with some of the best art in a manga this decade.

My love of anime began with My Neighbor Totoro as a small child. Over the years it grew to include much of Studio Ghibli's other works, One Piece, Naruto, Inuyasha, Fairy Tail, etc.

For all my love of anime, I have never been a huge fan of manga. Reading from right to left just never seemed to come natural to me and outside of a few Naruto chapters and random mangas I never read manga.

All of this changed with One Punch Man.

Fortunately, I had not heard all the hype about One Punch Man though I had vaguely heard the name. I went into One Punch Man with low expectations and was completely blown away.

Yes, One Punch Man is silly and a bit over the top, but what good manga isn't?

Heheh. I really enjoyed this manga (Thanks for letting me borrow it, Adam). Actually, I've seen a few episodes of the anime, so I actually know the plot up to this volume. I think one thing this manga has missing, that I'm pretty sure was in the first or second episode of the anime, is the main character training and how he lost his hair. Maybe it's in future volumes. I haven't watched much of the anime so I think the next volume would be a complete surprise. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes comics or anime and doesn't mind some satire.

“OPM” is about Saitama, a powerful superhero with a punch so powerful that it would obliterate his foes in an instant. Unfortunately, that’s the problem as he’s been able to defeat every foe he’s encountered and how it’s putting him in a state of angst. We learn about how he got his powers and how the more he got stronger, the more expressionless he became. He’s later in for a surprise as he tackles some new foes.

It’s a very unique superhero story that really has a different premise than your average hero in a cape. Imagine if Superman, Goku, or Batman defeated all their foes and led a life of purposeless boredom. For its start, it’s packed with action and humor while having plenty of kaiju-like enemies that look so fascinating. Its first punch certainly packs a lot. A- (91%/Excellent)

I absolutely adored this manga. One-Punch Man is hilarious and the way that it parodies other mangas is brilliant. I would recommend this to anyone that's a fan of manga and bad-assery with a story that doesn't take itself too seriously.

I decided to read OPM after watching season one of the anime (and absolutely loving it) and hearing that season two wasn't as gorgeous, so I'd enjoy what comes next on paper before seeing it on screen.

Rereading the season one content, it's amazing seeing how close and true to the manga the anime is. Some frames are identical, they nailed it.

The drawings are gorgeous, the story is great, I love the characters, it's engaging and it's so funny I love the concept and the witty jokes.

What keeps me from giving 5 stars to it is for now I'm not having any surprises as I've seen the anime and I feel like there could be a clearer sense of purpose in the story to engage me a little more but that's just because I'm hard to please, this is a great read.
