I really wanted to like this but it fell short. The writing and plot feels very YA but was decently paced. It was an superficially entertaining read but my biggest gripe was the thematic connection. How does the FMC’s oppressed desire for freedom, lead to desire for recognition, lead to desire for respect, equate to greed?! How is a desire for feminism (literal equality of genders) conflated into greed? Isn’t greed a desire for too many or too much of something, an excess? So then, is the book/dragon insinuating that women who want independence are considered greedy? Wtf… I don’t know, as a book that totes feminism, I didn’t feel it unpacked any of it beyond a point of adolescent rage.
