A beautiful collection of art from the Legend of Zelda series. I especially enjoyed the Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess sections.

Unlike Hyrule Historia before it, this is purely an art book, a compendium of all the official and promotional art created for all the games (including Link's Crossbow Training!). It's a huge, hefty book, high-quality full-color prints throughout. Someone's taking a loss by selling it for twenty bucks. Although I had seen every image in here at some point (except for a few early sketches of some of the big dioramas), I enjoyed the chance to go through them all over in such a beautiful package. It puts me in the weird position where I want to tear our some of the full-page prints for poster usage, but the book's so pretty I wouldn't dare damage it.

This was a great book filled with beautiful art, but if you're looking for an in-depth commentary for the designs of each game, you're going to be let down.

Well.

It sure is a thing.

It's just a collection of pictures from the series from start to finish--and it's basically all completed artwork and official promotion pieces. There's no concept art, there's no artist comments or explanation, no rejected characters or ideas. Just polished, polished, polished.

I guess it's kind of nice to have all the official manual art in one place, especially for some of the older games, which had pictures I've never seen before--but only because I haven't looked for them. All these pictures can be found online with little effort.

It's nice that it goes from beginning to Breath of the Wild, so it's very up to date, and the interview in the back is all right.

So, it's a coffee table book to flip through once and then ignore, basically. It's just another piece to add to a Zelda collection, but has no new information or real merit.

A fantastic resource to use if you’re looking for a collection of high quality artwork from The Legend of Zelda series. This book chronicles artwork from each entry, including character sketches and other development material from the production of each game. A brilliant asset to look through and reference whether you’re an artist yourself, or a huge fan of the series.
