This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Thank you to Simon and Schuester for letting me take part in this tour and for my copy of this book via Netgalley. I am a big fan of Heidi's work so I was excited to read this book and on top of that, we have a new location with lots of new people to meet!
The main character in this book is Tess. Tess is overworked and hasn't taken a break in years. She decides to take off to Wynmouth. Tess is such an easy character to like. I can see why the Wynmouth locals are so quick to become friends with her. She is such a fun character and I just loved being around her. She has such great ideas and really put the community first.
I loved all of the locals. Once their walls came down and they let Tess in they really were a lovely bunch. I could see myself living among them, visiting Sophie's cafe and the pub. It's a great little community.
This book has Heidi's stamp all over it. I love Heidi's writing style. I love the community feel and the beautiful locations.
I really loved reading this book and I can't wait for another Heidi book later in the year.

We have broken away from Wynbridge (I am sure we will return at some point) and we have pitched up on the Norfolk coast in Wynmouth.
The rock pools, the sea, the sand, the beach huts, shared experiences and loves of family holidays are just distant memories to Tess, but Wynmouth is where she feels she had the best parts of her life.
When it all feels like it has come to much at her high pressured job working for her very demanding and exacting father in the family firm and still reeling from the death of her mother, Tess decides to step away from it all.
Not telling anyone, she rents a cottage next to a pub in Wynmouth. Shutting all technology in a drawer and taking only herself and a recent discovery with her, Tess intends to hole up in Wynmouth until she feels ready to go back.
Trouble is Tess, cannot switch off that easily and she soon becomes involved in this lovely seaside town and the community.
Tess forms a bond with Sophie who runs the local cafe and her daughter Hope. Tess can see the potential in the cafe, once in PR, always in PR and helps Sophie spread the word a bit more.
Meddling a bit more, she branches out at the pub and becomes close to Sam, the landlord of the her rental cottage as well. Sam is slightly aloof and seems he is running away from something too.
When a familiar face returns to Wynmouth it doesn't just upset the locals, it upsets Tess too. It seems that by running away she has run into something else from her past.
Tess is about to learn a few lessons in nothing being as it seems.
This is yet again a five star read from Heidi Swain (as have all her previous novels). Instantly I was taken to the seaside, not so much of a problem when you live near one, but to have it jump off the page was wonderful. The characters were just as good as they always are. Fully formed, even those that merely played a small part in the story. I took an instant like and dislike to many of them only to find my prejudices and assumptions were sometimes wrong as I did not know the full story.
If you cannot get to a seaside, this is the perfect way to escape - but you might need to provide your own ice cream!

This was a sweet story with lots of twists and turns that had me unable to put it down towards the end.

This was a very easy book to get into right from the beginning. I don’t always enjoy books written in first person but this one was well written. I very much enjoyed the drama and angst that the book provided and it felt a lot like a soap opera in a book which was exactly what I was looking for. The characters were very likeable (I particularly enjoyed Hope and Joe) and the cosy setting and community makes me want to move to the seaside!! The plot twists were good but maybe there was one too many. There were quite a few grammar issues in the ebook from Amazon (Sam was called ‘am’ at one point) but it didn’t spoil the book. I will definitely read more from this author.

I love Heidi's books and I was so excited to see that this one was set by the seaside which is my favourite happy place and when I started to read I knew that I would love Wynmouth as much as Wynbridge and Nightingale Square.
Tess is burnout working all the hours of the day for her Dad's PR firm, she starts to feel disillusioned with life then when sorting out her Mums effects she is shellshocked by a discovery that rocks her world.
She leaves for the only place that she felt was her happy place a place that she spent time as a child with her Mum, Wynmouth.
She rents a small cottage from Sam the pub landlord and goes completely of the grid. and starts to make friends in the villge.
I loved this book it was a total escape from life and I loved the characters and Heidi always makes them so likeable and I just jump into her novels with both feet.
i will be recommending this for a fantastic summer read.

We might not be able to physically go on holiday to the seaside just now but we can live vicariously and take a trip to beautiful Wynmouth with Tess Tyler, in Heidi Swain’s newest book which is published today.
Tess works in the family firm and after a particularly pressured time plus an upsetting discovery, she decides to take a break in the little Norfolk town of Wynmouth where she spent many a happy holiday as a child. As she begins to rest and recover, she soon finds herself becoming involved in the life of the town and putting her planning skills to good use. But there is always a sense that there is some sort of secret just waiting to come to the fore…
I love the settings that Heidi Swain creates. Despite the typical British ‘summer’ weather Tess experiences for much of her stay, Wynmouth sounds like an idyllic place, not just for a holiday, but to live. I could easily picture Crow’s Nest cottage next to the pub, and Sophie’s cafe, the beach huts and so on. There is quite a sense of community too and with Tess’s help and encouragement, I felt this grew stronger throughout the book. I enjoyed watching Tess start to blossom again through helping others and discovering the things that really mattered to her. With two men vying for her attention (not that Tess seems to notice this!) it’s a gorgeously romantic read too.
And the food, oh the food! This is definitely not a book to read if you are remotely hungry as the descriptions of Sophie’s creations will have your stomach rumbling, your mouth watering and you running off to find the recipes.
The Secret Seaside Escape is perfect reading for just now (or any time) offering the reader a real escape from the worry and stress of everyday life. A great book to curl up with and imagine those holidays that we will one day be able to enjoy again. With lots of secrets waiting to be uncovered, new friendships, community spirit, a gorgeous setting, some surprises and a beautiful love story or two, this is a joyously uplifting, feel-good book.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Another absolutely brilliant book from Heidi.
When Tess decides she’s needs a break from the run of the mill she escapes to the Norfolk village Wynmouth where she used to spend summers as a child. She starts to feel she can finally relax until a familiar face returns to the village and reveals some village secrets. Plenty of twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end.
