This series is not without many flaws. But I still love it so. Yummy book candy.

"In the college town of Morganville, vampires and humans have learned to live in relative peace. Still, students like Claire Danvers know that after dark, studying can take a backseat to staying alive. But the tenuous good-neighbor policy is really turned on its head with the arrival of Mr. Bishop.

Bad to the bone, the ancient old-school vampire cares nothing about harmony. Staying at the top of the food chain is enough. What he wants from the town's living and dead is unthinkably sinister. It's only at a formal ball attended by vampires and their human dates that Claire realizes Bishop's plan -- and the elaborately evil trap he's set for the warm-blooded souls of Morganville...." -Book Cover

The fourth installment in the Morganville Vampires series was really strong on mind games. In this series you never know who are friends and foes and this novel is no exception.

A new very powerful vampire is in town, and there are no question about his loyalties. He is so full of himself, it's plain scary. He wants to take over the town and is ready to put down any fool standing in his way. Will Morganville surrender? Will Amelie strike back?

While Amelie is cold and calculative I really like her, she's smart and fearsome. While playing with the locals lives like they are chess pieces isn't very nice, to say the least, she's got a goal and we can't quite put our finger on it just yet, can't wait to see the bigger picture!

I was a bit disappointed that Claire's parents didn't take a more important role in that book. With the big bomb at the end of book 3, I thought they would have a bigger impact in the story but they were only tools to Claire's misery.

The end of this book sets an awesome plate for the next episode and I'll be diving in as soon as tomorrow =)

There wasn't a whole lot to this one. Nothing much really happened and it was over very quickly. It was okay, but not very satisfying.

Yes, we’re back! I can’t even describe how much better Feast of Fools was compared to Midnight Alley. Although the pacing can still be a bit off in places, I found the second half of the book especially fast and interesting. I’ve been flying through all of these books, but I definitely hit a lull at the end of 3 and start of 4. So glad it’s picked up again for me!

‘“I’m gonna kill him,” Eve said, or at least that was what it sounded like filtered through the pillow.
Stake him right in the heart, shove garlic up his ass, and-and-“‘

I think a lot of this was due to the new characters. Having a new threat like Mr Bishop was so brilliantly written on Caine’s part. I feel like after having 3 books including only people from Morganville, we definitely needed a fresh insight on the vampire community. The introduction of a new, common enemy was just perfect.

I also have to say the character growth was great. I really feel like I spent more time with the main characters in this one than any books previously. Some of my favourite scenes from Morganville are definitely just scenes between the friends, and they can be the funniest too!

‘”And what?”
“When did you get home?” Claire demanded.
“Apparently just in time to hear my funeral plans. I especially like the garlic up the ass. It’s…different.”’

Overall, a really enjoyable read and perhaps my favourite Morganville book yet! I’m excited for Lord of Misrule now.

This series continues to be perfect mix of entertaining typical ya and nonsense. I find myself cringing a lot but I'm still enjoying it so much and will definitely continue with the series.

This is definitely a series that I would recommend. It just gets better as the series goes on. This continues where the last one finished with Claire's parents arriving with a new guest to the town. The guest is not very friendly though and has revenge in mind for his visit. Claire's parents want her to move in with them however first they have a banquet to attend which has everyone worried and will bring many surprises. This is a great book that you will find difficult to put down. I loved the cliff hanger at the end definitely made me want to continue to find out what would happen next. Xxx

This is definitely the best book so far in the series. The characters seem to have come in their own and don't seem to be always making the obviously wrong choices. They all seem to be more comfortable with themselves and that makes the reader more comfortable reading about them. The story line continues in the ongoing arc from the earliest books with a new vampire come to town whose evilness outweighs that of any vampire seen before. She leaves every book with a cliff hanger, too bad I have to wait to get the next one.
