Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham

What can I say, Grisham is a gifted story teller. The pages flew by. The Rogue Lawyer could make a great series if Grisham is so inclined. Many of the cases are pulled from the latest headlines and Grisham offers a severe criticism of our inadequate justice system while endearing us to a character who is both despicable and admired.

Good to read Grisham again. Great story with lots of different plots.

Disappointing. He has written much better - this book felt like he called it in.

Parts of this book were very interesting, but I hate Sebastian Rudd. Someone needs to teach him that two wrongs don't make a right. Although, he may have learned that midway through the book.

Grisham is always good at finding misguided characters caught up in the travesty of our nation's justice system. It is downright scary that the crimes he describes are happening all around us no matter where we live. I enjoy his sense of humor, even in the face of some truly nasty stuff

This was my first Grisham novel. And I have to say I may not read another one. I almost abandoned this book about four times. The character development is fairly weak. And you can see every major plot moment coming from about 40 pages before it happens. Disappointing.

This book follows street lawyer Sebastian Rudd through several cases covering topics such as cage fighting, excessive police force, and human trafficking. Told in the first person, it's a fast paced book with lots of eccentric supporting characters. Rudd

At times it felt like there was just too much going on in the story. I suppose that's how it is for a real lawyer as opposed to book lawyers who usually just have the one case to focus on. I always had the feeling that Rudd always wins - even the unwinnable cases - so it was hard to get caught up in the drama.

It's a good summer book. The chapters are short so it is easy to put down and pick up repeatedly while at the beach.

This counts as a book and its prequel for the 2016 PopSugar Reading Challenge.
