I do not understand why everyone is hating on Tricks! The dog got on Morgan’s back for weighted push-ups! so cute, she made me laugh so much. And overall, I thought it was a fantastic read. There was entertainment on every page.

Classic Linda Howard romantic suspense, #1 in the GO-team series, Troublemaker was a good listen! Action, tension, and a great story line-- terrific listen for a day of cleaning the garage. Can't wait for more in this series.

Really, really enjoyed this one. Quirky small town behavior, a too smart to be believed dog, but she was entertaining. A smart, but tough heroine that I could respect, and a hero I like. He was an alpha type but not over the top. The overall storyline was entertaining.

Morgan Yancy is relocated to a secure-ish location by his boss after the attempted murder on his life near his home. As a team leader in a paramilitary group, this makes everything worse since Morgan has no idea who found out about his identity let alone his home. Morgan was seriously injured during the altercation and been in a hospital bed after days has left him feeling even weaker.

Isabeau “Bo” Maran is a part-time police chief in a small town. She has good friends, a dog called Tricks she adores (who can be a diva most of the time) and a house she never wanted but now is hers. Bo comes home to find a stranger waiting at her house telling her he was sent there by her step-brother.

Bo and Morgan are both loners in nature, apart from Tricks who Bo adores. They are both wary of living with each other even if it's for short of time till Morgan gets well. It doesn't help that they both feel attracted to each other yet can't really trust each other. Bo doesn't know the plan behind Morgan's move to the small town in Virginia and it could be potentially disastrous to Bo and Morgan's budding relationship.

As one expects with Linda Howard's book, a couple who have great chemistry and connection. With had this here as well with the added bonus of they both got to know each other a lot better before they decided to take the next step. Though suspense was quite on the low side and the killer wasn't exactly a creepy or twisted as Linda Howard's books usually have, it was still interesting. The book does have a slower pace which I think worked well with Morgan and Bo's relationship. Most of the book is about Morgan and Bo's relationship, romance and the life around the small town.

Overall, I quite liked this one. Kind of reminded me of older Linda Howard books which to this day I adore.

In this Linda Howard book we follow Morgan, a secret paramilitary ninja guy, who after a brush with death spends some time recuperating with our heroine, Tricksy.
Spoiler
First we meet Morgan, who is just looking to relax on his boat, but instead ends up taking a bullet following a misunderstanding. Under the impression that those involved will want to finish the job, his boss sends him to stay with his stepsister in a small town. His described as the standard alpha male, strong and dependable and apparently very good at his job.
Next we meet Bo, a small-town chief of police who lives with her dog Tricksy. She’s been busy paying off a large debt and walking said dog until her stepbrother calls and offers her lots of money to babysit one of his men.

The book did start strong, building a great world around these two characters and it felt realistic how much neither of them wanted to be in the situation, but their chemistry wasn’t all that great. The stories premise was interesting but turned flat very quickly. The towns folk were annoying and both of the characters were boring, turning a book with so much potential into a disappointment.

At the end everything comes together and they live happily ever after, but not much happens in between. If you want a book about a dog with some romance smattered in, this is the book for you.

4.2. Honestly this was much better than I was expecting, although, I’m not entirely sure what my expectations were. I loved how direct Morgan was about his feelings for Beau. I also loved how clear headed Beau was as well, it just emphasizes how great they were together. This also just makes me want a dog even more than I already do, Tricks was amazing. All in all this was a really fun read.
