The first book in a long time that I just couldnā€˜t put down. I had to read it in a day and I was close to tears basically the whole time. As always, Taylor Jenkins Reid has this way of portraying characters and their relationships in such a realistic way that you cannot help but feel with them. With this books she shows how complex grieve can be and how it influences the relationships with the people still living.

This feels like what i though lt a relationship would be like when i was 12. Ben and Elsie are the absolute worst. Elsie is a pick me who thinks she is the only human yo have ever loved or lost. Ben is a sicophant and neither have a real personality. I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop because everything was just too perfect. She doesn't know how pretty she is, he's a Prince Charming. It was just so boring. He was also incredibly controlling, ordering for her, demanding a old man give his great granddaughter a book HE (Ben) likes. His mommy obsession. How happy he is about EVERYTHING Elsie does. Susan and Ana are thr only likeable characters and Elsie treats them like crap. Why should his mother care about Elsie when she didn't know she existed.
