A larger cast of characters than the typical romance novel makes for a more nuanced read. Also, the setting (1780s rather than the more typical later Regency) gave this a more 18th century feel. An appealing change of pace from the other Regencies I've been reading of late. Will have to try others by James...

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found the characters to be fun. I wish they had a tad more depth.

Very good introduction to the romantic England of Eloisa James. Thoroughly enjoyed the book with its little twists and what I consider complex marital relationships.

Wonderful complicated and witty
No boring rehash of boy meets girl... this is a story with many layers and witty conversation. It keeps you on your toes and satisfies your need for HEA.

This was fun! So many couples, so many vague, bruised relationships. Obviously we will get more info in the next books, but I still have many questions!

This was a more complicated and unpredictable story than I expected, and therefore more enjoyable. I liked the love triangle element and the wide cast of characters. The sexual tension was off the charts. A fun read!

A good light Georgian romance, although not quite as strong towards the end. Lots of witty banter and interesting, if unlikely, characters. Hero and heroine paled in comparision to many of the secondary characters though. Still a fun read.
