This was a really easy read, although it was clearly aimed for younger readers than myself since the characters arew school age but I think that meant that I found it a quick and easy read although I didn't connect with the characters as much.
The main character in this book is Amanda, one of the popular kids until she swaps bodies with one of the kids she picks on. In the mind of Tracey she gets introduced to a new class held by the school for 'gifted' pupils and it just so happens that she is one. She learns about the life of the girl that she picks on and begins to understand that everyone doesn't have the life that she has or the family she has turning her into an ultimately nicer person.
There are a lot of secondary characters but the one that stood out the most to me was Kenna. Kenna was the only person who really realized that Tracey wasn't really Tracey and was actually Amanda and she helps Amanda get back into her body and they become friends.
The storyline is original and interesting, I feel the biggest issue for me with this book was that I'm too old to relate to the characters. The pacing was excellent and it almost turned into a race against time for the characters to get back to their bodies. Even though this book was not directed at people in my age group I have very much enjoyed reading it and do plan on continuing with the rest of the books in the series.
3.5 stars :)

this was a bit of a let down...with the recent surge of paranormal for teens and adults alike i had high expectations....i should have a. found out more about the book and b. gotten as many of the books that are currently published to read all at one time...this was the very beginning and the storyline line definitely needs to be continued in subsequent books cause there was little resolution...the main character didn't grow at all...the main conflict was resolved with a blow to the head that seemed anti-climatic...i'm trying to give the book the benefit of the doubt since it is only the first of a proposed 9(?) book series and it was written for middle schoolers which i wasn't expecting at all...i had assumed it was for the teen crowd...i'm off to find book 2 to see if it gets any better

I adored the Gifted series as a kid and absolutely loved rereading the first book again now. It just has such an endlessly fascinating concept and setup and I was equally right in my nostalgic feels and at the same time viewing so many elements of it from a different, more developed lens now. I had so much fun being back with these characters and particularly enjoyed seeing the friendships start to form between Jenna, Emily, and Tracey. I've since also reread book two and am just having the absolute BEST time revisiting this fantastic series that sucks me right in every time.

I found this interesting and overall a fun read. It got me out a reading slump and I finished it in a day. The story isn’t very complex but it kept my attention. We see Amanda wake up as Tracey, the “nerdy” girl that she used to bully. Amanda learns that Tracey’s special gift is invisibility. We watch Amanda navigate her way to try and get back in her own body.

I like the story, it isn't like other ones. Every thing is simple and blends together. There are no attempts to make someting seem more than it is. It's just plain honest. It's quite refreshing.
Amanda was a very good character and she never got out of character and that was nice too. Finally, a book where the characters actually sound like themselves!
