Tough subject examined with gentleness, curiosity, respect, and care. Shines a light on the folks who help us along when we are no longer.

This book opened my eyes and put words to a lot of the feelings I’ve been having 5 years under my belt as an EMT. I started working in November 2020 and this book helped me process a lot of the death I’ve seen and talked to friends about

I don’t know where the all things living part was but it was an interesting read.

Flat plot, but niche and interesting. Will not be reading more like this.

It is always a reflective experience reading about death. At times I had to pause the audiobook and sit with my thoughts. An expansive (far more expansive than I had initially thought) look at the death industry is worth a read.

A very interesting look at the people who work in the industries surrounding death and how they cope with seeing, on a daily basis, what the rest is us tend to hide from. Much like the books by Caitlin Doughty, this one can make you think about your beliefs surrounding death and possibly reevaluate how you approach the various aspects of it.

Great work of nonfiction exploring the concept of death. It ranges from embalmers, funeral directors, crime scene cleaners, executioners, and even murderers. Campbell meets with professionals within these fields and we get an insight in how it works and how they feel about it, how they got into it, etc. Really interesting and insightful as well. I thought this would be a little triggering for me as I did lose a friend earlier this year however, it was done in a way where I didn’t feel triggered. It’s done in a compassionate way which I really respect.
