Set in post-war Europe amid the spread of communism and the Iron Curtain, The Diplomat's Wife is a story of love and deception, secrets and lies, and most of all, courage. I figured out one of the plot twists but did not see the second one coming, and am pretty sure my mouth dropped open. :) Zoomed through this one in a day.

Slow start but I think that keeps the twists a secret

I loved this book!!! There was just the right amount of war, espionage, and love. I didn't want to put the book down until the end!

Bit schmaltzy, but an easy read. Some decent intrigue, offset with some mildly preposterous twists. Not the worst… but not exactly Pulitzer material.

Overwrought and almost laughably implausible. Liked the first one better.

Pam Jenoff can really write intriguing historical fiction. Lots of passion and espionage as post WW2 the Soviets try to claim all the lands they liberated from the Germans. Those countries really suffered a double whammy!

3.5 stars. Mediocre on most levels. Lots of unrealistic events, corny love story, the protagonist was kind of annoying.
