Appreciated all the NYSNC references but the FMC was annoying and I feel like the prince thing dragged on a little long. Also still not a fan of this audiobook narrator.
I do feel like the kissing scenes are getting better as the book series goes on, so that's a plus.

I really wanted to enjoy this - I needed a fun, light book inbetween series reading and this seemed like just the ticket.
But I honestly just *could not get past the dialogue.* Every other sentence just read as super cheesey or cringy to me and it made it so hard to like either of the characters.
The main character is also talking about being obsessed with this person she has spent a total of seemingly ~4 hours with and has super possessive internal dialogue about it. I almost skipped that whole chapter.
It also throws out every single "hidden royalty" romcom trope that has ever existed, but doesn't even try to add their own spin on it.
Overall, this was really frustrating for *me* to read, because I think I went into it with the wrong expectations. I think it's probably a good romcom beach read if that's what you're looking for - it just wasn't my cup of tea this week.

Super cute, sweet novel about a royal prince from Europe and a regular woman falling in love. Lauren doesn’t know that Topher is a prince and thinks he’s a regular person on vacation - and she’s appointed herself his tour guide. While some of Lauren’s internal dialogue was a little too quirky and trend-speak, I still enjoyed the novel. Her friendships were solid and I would have loved to read more about Topher’s family, too. It reminded me of a Hallmark Christmas movie. Definitely pick this one up if you enjoy a quick, sweet romance set during the holidays! 3.5/5 rounded up to 4.

This Hallmark-cute story follows Lauren, who follows wherever her whims take her—including risking her life to save “SuperThor” (aka Topher) when she witnesses him almost get run over after leaving an *NSYNC concert.
This incites a series of fun circumstances that grow them closer not only to each other, but to their best selves.
I love Lauren and her hilarious thought process, accidentally saying and doing awkward things. She is full of fantastic laugh-out-loud quotes! And Topher is just the right level of stoic-but-kind to balance her out. I did feel like things were almost a little too balanced and sweet for a lot of the book, but by the end I really enjoyed the change and lessons the characters experienced. I also haven’t read the previous books about Lauren’s friends and didn’t quite connect with them like someone who read their stories probably would, but they were cute and I liked their support for Lauren.
Overall “Saving the Secret Prince” is a quick, feel-good read, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet story with Christmas vibes.
Thank you to the author for an ARC of the book in exchange for my honest review!

Saving the Secret Prince by Kristin Canary is my favorite of the series so far.
From the moment of Lauren and Topher's unconventional meeting, Lauren has stars in her eyes (it might be the concussion). While he tries to keep his distance (he has secrets) it's not long before he seems smitten with Lauren.
This was a quick, fluffy read. The characters have struggles that add an unexpected depth (without going too heavy). It's not your typical "royal" romcom, which makes it even more endearing. I adored the story, loved the characters, enjoyed the LOL moments, and I am anticipating Shelby's story in the next book.

Lauren just got out of the concert of a lifetime, when she sees a guy walking in front of a car. She jumps into action and pushed him out of the way. Little did she know she just saved the prince. She has to take it easy for a while and he offers to pay her for the lost wages (well her friend kind of forces him into it:) ).
She decides to be his personal trainer. She never did that before which becomes clear pretty soon, so she shows him around instead. He is more of a bookworm and on forced hiatus. They spend a lot of time together, sparks fly and before long they fall for each other.
It's easy when it's just them, but life in the spotlight, the kind he leads, is the reason she cut ties with her family.
It's a lovely fast-paced story, that you can read in one sitting. :)
