Another great continuation to the series with a lot of fun adventures and exciting new characters. I love that this book started focussing a little more on Perenelle who, along with Scatty is one of my favourite characters in the book. The writing is so smooth and the story flows so well!

An overall very satisfying conclusion to my curiosity about Josh being Awakened, but I'm still curious about where the plot is going. Loved the introduction of Machiavelli's character, as well as lots more allusions to Greek myth--we meet Mars and we get a great backstory on Prometheus. Very fun!

Another solid entry in this YA Fantasy Series. I did get a little aggravated with the rehashing of information from the previous book, but it's pretty standard for a YA series.

Ik begin zo langzamerhand een nieuwe leesverslaving te ontwikkelen. Na Harry Potter duurde het toch best lang voordat ik weer een reeks boeken had gevonden die ook de moeite waard zijn. Maar die heb ik nu toch gevonden in de boeken over Nicolas Flamel van Michael Scott. Deel 1 vond ik in eerste instantie nog niet echt spannend. Inmiddels heb ik het tweede deel uit en ik moet zeggen dat de serie nu al steeds beter wordt. Toen ik het eerste deel las, ging ik ervan uit dat het een trilogie ging worden, maar er zijn nu 6 boeken in deze serie. Dus ik kan nog wel even vooruit.

Omdat het boek onder het genre Young Adult valt of misschien voor de nog iets jongere lezer, leest het voor mij makkelijk weg. Maar dat maakt de spanning er niet minder op. Dit tweede deel is een stuk spannender dan het eerste. De gebeurtenissen volgen elkaar in een rap tempo op. Het hele boek beslaat een periode van een dag of twee. Net zoals in het eerste het geval was. Maar het wordt geen moment saai. De avonturen van Josh en Sophie worden afgewisseld met die van Perenell Flamel. Dit zorgt ervoor dat je door wilt blijven lezen. Ik vind het in ieder geval een aanrader voor de Fantasy liefhebber.

I'm enjoying this series. The adventures and development of the characters keep me engaged. There is plenty of action throughout the story that make the book hard to put down. I guess I'll be reading book 3 because I want to know what happens to the twins and the Alchemyst next.

I loved this book. It got going right away, and while the writing wasn't fast paced, the story line was. I loved Scott's use of mythology and historical characters throughout this book. Some of the characters I came across I had read about in other books like John Dee, Machiavelli, Nicholas Flamel, just to name a few. Different story lines wove through the series, and all turned up at the end so that it finally made sense. Books like these make you appreciate how much research and planning goes into writing.
