I really liked this book. It reminded me a lot of the movie "Doc Hollywood." The characters were great and the story moved at a nice pace. There were some parts that were a bit predictable, but overall it was a good story and I will continue reading the series.

I watched the first season on Netflix and fell in love with the characters, place, and stories. As always the book is better than the show. The book really dives into stories and characters and makes you believe in them. I couldn’t put the book down and can’t wait to continue following the journey. Netflix does a great job following the storylines accurately and it was great to have faces to think of while reading the book. Highly recommend!

Finally found the first book in the series and got to read Jack and Mel's story. As enjoyable and engaging as all the others. Parts were a little anticlimactic since I've read so many subsequent books and the back story has been sketched so we know who's who. These are real life without the detailed grit of some contemporary fiction; still enough escapism for me to really enjoy the series.

Carr creates such wonderful, well-drawn characters that take you on a wonderful, funny, emotional journey. I laughed lots, cried a little, and totally fell for Jack. I especially loved the banter between Mel and Doc, and the storyline of Rick and Liz. Carr's characters are so REAL, and it really gets a reader invested in the story. She's quickly becoming one of my favourite authors.

I wouldn't typically pick up a book like this but I'm glad I did try something different than my 'norm' because I really enjoyed this one. Robyn did an amazing job making you feel like you were actually in the small town of Virgin River. I could picture everything perfectly and if Virgin River actually existed I would love to go visit, with its quiet atmosphere and friendly people. I loved reading about Mel and Jack's romance and Doc was such a character, a laughed at his grumpiness and snarky remarks more than just once. I will definitely be reading more of Virgin River!

Garbage. Not my genre I guess. The narration was fine and the characters are fine, if one-dimensional and cliche. The story premise is just okay. But graphic sex scenes, especially between FOURTEEN YEAR OLDS???? turned me off. I can't believe an agent and editor let sex scenes between teenagers get published. Maybe this is what romance genre does now? There's references to "bums" and "fannies" which I find utterly insulting, references to taking advantage of a passed-out person, and an entire sex talk about condoms that was stupid. The whole thing is misogynistic, but again, maybe that's just the genre.

I guess if you're a fan of this genre it might be good, but I found it ridiculous.

I was debating between a 1 or 2 star for this one. It was AWFUL. I could not stand Jack and how critical and rude he was of the women in the book. There was a very problematic scene about consent and overall I just did not like the book. The only part I got a laugh out of was the Hummer ambulance I wish they included that in the show

Completely predictable "Hallmark" type story. The characters annoyed me. It just wasn't my cup of tea.
