I’m a big Lisa Unger fan but this book was not one of my favorites. I found it to be about 100 pages too long. The first half of the book was very detail oriented but confusing at times between her “sleep” and “awake” states. I found myself having to go back and reread pages to make sure that I understood what was going on. The ending of the book felt rushed and while the conclusion was logical I wouldn’t say that it was realistic.

Thanks for Goodreads for this ARC!
This is my first Lisa Unger novel. She has been on my to read list for years but I just have never gotten around to reading any of her books. I was really excited to get this ARC.
The novel follows Poppy whose husband was murdered a year ago. The murder remains unsolved and in the mean time she has suffered a psychological break and is missing four days from her life. As she uncovers the mysteries of those four days, she begins to find clues related to her husband's murder. Poppy has trouble figuring out if the nightmares she is having are purely nightmares or if they are memories.
I highly recommend this novel and am looking forward to going back and reading some of the author's previous novels.

The mystery itself is good and hard to figure out.
The unreliable narrator proved to be a bit too annoying and tropey for me to handle.
It is a quick read and good for mystery lovers.

IMO, this was just ok. The lines between reality and psychosis were pretty blurred. And the ultimate resolution seemed like it belonged in a different book. Readers who are mad into psychological thrillers may want to pick this up, but it wasn't for me. This would be an author I might recommend readers look for at the public library if they are interested in this type of fiction. Readers looking for more like Gone Girl might enjoy it.

Some might be confused about the sequences in this story as they slip from dreamlike fatigue, questionable memories and medically induced fogs but it makes for a unique way of story telling. I really enjoyed this one and the ending was exciting and left me content.

This book was, average. It did keep me hooked and with things continually happening with Poppy’s memory/dreams and her slowly remembering things vs hallucinating it kept it interesting, but the storyline just wasn’t for me.
I didn’t like the constant talk of pill abuse and the story got a bit messy. I also just didn’t like the ending.
Her best friend’s husband ordered the murder on her husband because he found out he was having an affair? Then the main character (Poppy) just moves in with her stalker and has a baby with him 6 months after dating him? I didn’t feel any of the characters got justice. The thrilling parts were there but the ending wasn’t what should of happened in my opinion.

I was really intrigued by the premise of this book as I've read several thrillers with an aspect of dreaming/memory loss over the last few years - some good and some not-so-much. I'd heard good things about this author, so I was excited to see what direction she took the book in!
If I'm being honest, I did find parts of the book a little hard to follow. There were several times I had to flip back to see if a specific part of the book was set in the current timeline, in the past, or if it was a dream/memory, which did make the book a little tricky in certain points. Personally, I feel that these sections of the book could have been made more clear, and probably would have resulted in a higher rating from me. What did work well was the confusion around the dreams/lost memories - the reader was totally in the dark about what was real and what wasn't, as was the main character. This resulted in the reader really feeling the same sense of confusion and instability that Poppy was experiencing, which lent well to the "unreliable narrator" aspect of the book, as well as the overall creep factor.
I liked the ending of the book for the most part - I had an idea pretty early on around what happened, and wasn't far off track. There were a few loose ends that weren't tied up, and I would have liked some answers for those things. Overall, I did enjoy the book, despite the hangups I had that I mentioned above. I found myself engrossed in the story and had a hard time putting it down, so I got through it pretty quickly. If you like books that have unreliable narrators, plots involving lost memories or dream sequences that blend with reality, this will be a good choice for you. I'd like to thank Park Row Press for my copy of the book. It was my pleasure to share an honest review.
