I’m crying they really just can’t give mark a break

Invincible is the best escapist comic on the shelves. Deal with it, world. In addition to being a violent masterpiece, Kirkman still manages to throw in some emotional depth and sticky moral debates in a way that drives the story. At the same time, it's so wild an unpredictable that it's hard to put down. For example, they didn't forget about Anissa. Where is that going? I have to know! There are dozens of little relationships that have an intriguing arc of their own in addition to the long-running Viltrumite saga.
5 stars for a crazy good book.
2 stars for having to wait at least another year for the next (and final?) volume.

I will mention one caveat. The ending of this one is abrupt and not sold particularly well. A bit of boom splat pow-see you next time! I still love this comic though.

If I ever decide to read Invincible again, I'll be skipping from the Ultimate Volume Six to Ultimate Volume 11. The first section, "Reboot", is a cool jumping-back-in-point, even though it's not actually a reboot. The basic premise is that Invincible is given a shot to relive his life and fix every mistake he's ever made, putting us all the way back in the story of Volume One. It's a fun trope, and it allows a timejump in the story. And this story desperately needed a timejump.

After fifty issues ranging from bad to unreadably terrible, it's a relief to be back into a story where there isn't constant melodrama. There are a few eyerolly moments but they are much more spare than in volumes 7-1o.

"Full House" offers the big buildup to what will be the final volume of the series. And while there are still some moments that feel like they come with swooping piano-themed musical cues, they didn't detract from the story.

I recommend picking this up after Volume Six and just letting the frequent recapversations fill you in on the ridiculous things that made up the previous four volumes. I also recommend it to people who like CW superhero shows.

Maybe my #1 superhero comic of all time. Another great collection as the series heads towards its completion.

wow, some really deep existential stuff from mark. no matter what he says, he is a hero to his daughter.

morality is relative and subjective

on to the finale! i hope oliver doesn't die

Another great entry in the series!

I did not enjoy the majority of the art in this book. The story seems like a rushed setup for something bigger to come. It's not bad but it just pales in comparison to the rest of the series so far.
